Heavy ion therapy centers
Our strategic partners operate hospital-run heavy ion radiotherapy programs. All cases must pass the center's formal medical evaluation before any treatment arrangement.
Tongji University Cancer Center
Tongji University Cancer Center · Shanghai
A leading cancer center integrating clinical treatment and research, with advanced radiotherapy programs.
Shanghai Cancer Center
Shanghai Cancer Center · Shanghai
One of China's most established oncology hospitals, providing comprehensive diagnosis and treatment under a national-level clinical team.
CAS Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center
Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences · Lanzhou
A heavy ion radiotherapy center associated with CAS, offering particle therapy for selected tumor types.
Heavy ion therapy is a high-precision radiotherapy technology. Whether a patient is suitable is determined solely by hospital physicians after complete evaluation. Treatment fees are set and charged by the treating hospital; we can help you obtain the official hospital quotation.
Precision radiotherapy with heavy ion beams
Heavy ion therapy delivers precisely targeted radiation to tumors while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. This page explains the technology and how a patient is evaluated in China.
What is heavy ion therapy?
Heavy ions (e.g. carbon ions) are accelerated to high energy and directed at a tumor. Their physical properties allow a very localized dose — the "Bragg peak" — which can spare surrounding organs while delivering a strong dose to the lesion. It is one of the advanced forms of particle radiotherapy.
This page provides general science information only. It is not medical advice and does not constitute a recommendation for any individual. Whether heavy ion therapy is suitable for you can only be determined by hospital specialists after a complete medical evaluation.
How suitability is determined
Heavy ion therapy is appropriate only for selected tumor types and stages. The treating hospital's radiation oncology team makes the final judgment based on your complete medical records and on-site examinations.
Submit medical records
You provide existing records: diagnosis, pathology reports, imaging (CT / MRI / PET-CT) and treatment history. We organize and translate them as needed.
Expert medical review
Your case file is submitted to the hospital's oncology team for formal pre-evaluation.
On-site examination & final decision
If pre-evaluation is positive, you travel to China where the hospital completes examinations and issues the final treatment decision and plan.
What to prepare
Medical documents
Complete and legible records in your language — pathology, imaging on CD/DVD or digital media, operation notes and prior treatment summaries. Our team helps organize and translate.
Treatment timeline
The full course is determined by the hospital after evaluation and typically involves planning, multiple fractions and follow-up. Your coordinator will share the hospital's official schedule once confirmed.
Costs & payment
Treatment fees are set and collected by the treating hospital. After preliminary evaluation, we can assist you in obtaining the official hospital quotation and understanding payment procedures.
Travel & stay
Once the plan is confirmed, we arrange visa documents, flights, accommodation near the hospital, meals and interpretation for the whole treatment period.
Questions patients often ask
Non-medical support, arranged end to end
Everything below is logistical and lifestyle support. It never replaces or influences the medical care delivered by your hospital.
Visa assistance & airport pickup
We prepare and review your visa application documents (invitation, hospital communication and itinerary), and guide you through the application. Visa approval remains the decision of the consulate.
Upon arrival, our representative meets you at the airport with a sign and provides private transfer to your accommodation or the hospital — no waiting, no confusion.
We provide document support and guidance only. We cannot guarantee visa approval — that decision belongs to the issuing consulate or authority.
Accommodation & meals
We arrange comfortable accommodation close to the treating hospital — from hotel suites to serviced apartments — matched to your needs and budget.
Daily meals can be arranged with attention to dietary requirements and preferences, including options suitable for patients with restricted diets (as advised by the hospital).
- Options from comfort hotels to serviced apartments
- Near-hospital locations to minimize daily travel
- Meal plans adapted to dietary restrictions
Medical interpretation & translation
Trained medical interpreters accompany you to consultations so that nothing is lost in translation — symptoms, questions, instructions and consent documents.
We also translate medical records for hospital evaluation and help you understand hospital documents. Interpretation is language assistance; medical explanations are confirmed with your physicians.
Interpreters do not provide medical opinions. All medical decisions are made by the treating physicians, and any treatment-related information is confirmed directly with the hospital.
Additional support through your journey
Appointment coordination
We coordinate schedules and appointments with the hospital as instructed by its staff — you always receive official confirmations from the hospital.
Daily life support
Local SIM, payment setup, pharmacy errands and everyday questions — our team is reachable throughout your stay.
Departure & follow-up
We help with hospital follow-up documents, medication instructions and departure logistics after treatment concludes.
Your path to care in China, step by step
A clear sequence of what happens, who does what, and when. Medical steps are marked clearly — they belong to the hospital.
Online inquiry & document submission
You contact us with basic information and existing medical records. We confirm your needs and what documents are required.
Case file preparation
We organize, translate (when needed) and package your records into a case file ready for hospital review. No medical judgment is made at this stage.
Medical pre-evaluation
The case file is submitted to the hospital. Its physicians review the documents and issue a preliminary conclusion on whether further evaluation is appropriate.
Travel & stay arrangement
For cases moving forward, we arrange visa documents, flights, airport pickup, accommodation, meals and interpretation.
Arrival & on-site examination
You arrive in China and complete the hospital's examinations and specialist consultations with our interpretation support.
Final medical decision
The treating hospital confirms whether treatment will proceed and issues the official treatment plan, schedule and quotation.
Treatment by the hospital team
Treatment is delivered entirely by the hospital's own medical team, with our interpreters and logistics support throughout.
Follow-up & departure
After treatment, we help with hospital follow-up documents, medication instructions and arrange your departure logistics.
Steps marked "Hospital" are performed by licensed physicians and hospital staff. We facilitate the process and logistics, but we never decide, perform or guarantee medical outcomes.
